The position of the photographer and the allotments in the foreground are today under Callington Road Hospital, and this factory is covered by a modern supermarket. The 'Golden Shred' mentioned in the title of this postcard refers to a brand of marmalade, which is commemorated in the name of the road leading to the hospital - Marmalade Lane.

The photograph is believed to have been taken by Fred Viner, and the postcard published by Viner & Co., Publishers. Bath. The front carries the title "ROBERTSON'S GOLDEN SHRED FACTORY, BRISLINGTON." See our notes for more information about this photographer and postcard publisher, and their work in Brislington.
