The three-storey building (with three windows on each of its upper floors) is Brislington Post Office (formerly known as Albert House). Outside is a group of children, four of whom each has a hoop to play with. The two-storey house adjoining the post office on our right has a pair of identical signs on its first floor, each proclaiming Bristol Evening Times / The Paper Everyone Reads. Lower down, on the right a sign advertises the News of the World newspaper. The road snaking up on the right is Brislington Hill, and a little behind the large trees is where the footbridge now crosses the modern A4 Bath Road

The photograph is believed to have been taken by Fred Viner, and the postcard published by Viner & Co., Publishers. Bath. The front carries the title "Brislington, Bristol." and the reference number "118". See our notes for more information about this photographer and postcard publisher, and their work in Brislington. Earliest known picture: before 3 June 1918.
